The aquarium is right near Coney Island so we ventured out to nearby Brighton Beach. Isabella was tired and we didn't last long. Oh, how I love the beach, even for a brief New York City minute.

The New York Aquarium
Last week I took Isabella to the New York Aquarium. It was a lot of fun and she really enjoyed it, but for me...I've been fortunate to go to (and work at) some fantastic, super nice aquariums. So, it was fun, but unimpressive.

Kites

A couple weeks ago we went to one of the Hudson River Piers and enjoyed the kite festival. At first there was zero wind, but within a few minutes the wind finally came and the ski was filled with so many different kites. It was very cool!

Big News!
No, not the baby....
I have been nomitated for best party entertainer in New York City. That's totally HUGE! I'm only 1 of 7 that were nominated. Do you know how many party entertainers there are in NYC?! Ummm...tons!
I was nominated because I have a link on this site where parents can rate and review my parties and all of them have LOVED the parties! A good chunk of my business comes from this website, so it's a big deal.
Click on the logo below! Vote for Science Explorers! Come back everyday and vote again (until July 15).

Brian's Five Borough Bike Tour
Brian and his brother, Spencer, signed up to do the 42 mile, 5 Borough Bike Tour last Sunday. I'm so impressed that they did it! It's not only a long bike ride, but it rained, and rained, and rained. If any of you have ever ridden a bike in the rain, it's no fun. Talk about grueling!

I must confess I plan on doing the ride next year, as long as the weather is agreeable. I love riding my bike--except on busy NYC streets! I can chalk it up there with the very amazing, very fun, very grueling bike ride we did 5 years ago. We rode 300 miles (in 6 days, on old rail and canal paths) from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington D.C. We use to be so crazy like that! Now we are crazy parents...a very different, very fun adventure!

A Flash of Flavor!

Lately Isabella has been trying new foods. Last week we stopped into one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants near Union Square (sorry, can't remember the name right now) and ordered her a plain rice, as usual. She took two bites of rice, grabbed Brian's curry noodle soup and finished it off. I was so surprised and impressed. And this silly nonsense, of trying foods, keeps happening! Yesterday she ate half my sandwich full of spicy meats. Who is this child?!

Harlem Garden
There was dirt all over the floor and under our fingernails. It was a perfect spring activity. I love my little helper. She's begun identifying herbs...well, at least rosemary.

Weekend in Connecticut, part I
Cotton Hollow
Last week was crazy-busy (tons of parties!) so this is my first opportunity, in over a week, to post about our last trip Connecticut. (Which was also our last trip until after baby boy makes his debut! Yikes, it's getting close!) The weather was absolutely fabulous and was a nice, needed break from the cold, rainy spring weather we seem plagued with this season.
All photos below are taken on our hike in Cotton Hollow, which is about a 5 minute drive from Brian's family's house. So beautiful, so fun!

Tenth Avenue Tacos
Some of the best, most authentic tacos (I should know because I'm from California, right?) can be found in a back window inside a tiny Mexican grocery store on 10th Ave (between 47th & 48th Sts) in Hell's Kitchen. I don't think I would have ever found it if one of my neighbors hadn't told me about it when I live around the corner for two years. If you can find it, give it a try. It is, literally, a hole in the wall. Super cheap ($2/taco), super delicious (most people love the pork, but my fav is the chicken). Tehuitzingo Deli & Grocery.
