Tuesday night we went in search of the perfect little tree for our new perfect little apartment. It was quite chilly and luckily we scored a beautiful, bushy evergreen without looking too hard; just three blocks away. Right outside the American Museum of Natural History, of course!
We have done this two years now and I'm loving this new tradition. I like to call it "tree hunting in the urban jungle".

What we are up to...
Since moving two weeks ago all of us have been sick or dealing with some other ailment on a daily basis. It seems like the stress of moving combined with the season's germs have really hit us hard. To sum it up: it's been really rough! In addition to it being bitter cold outside the last couple of days we've all been house bums a majority of the last two weeks. On the bright side, when Brian and I had a bit of energy we finished unpacking boxes, hanging frames on the walls, organized stuff, and made ourselves a cozy new home which we love.
Isabella requested that we make some cookies to take to our new neighbors. We are so fortunate to have had great, amazing neighbors in our last place and now this place. And since we now live in a ground floor apartment I stop myself from telling Isabella to not jump so hard, because the "neighbors downstairs". What luxury! :0)
So, here are a few photos from the last week of us being cooped up. Oh! And the highly recommended recipe I found for these delicious cutout cookies: Spicy Gingerbread Cookies.
We made gingerbread cookies twice. The first round (see photos above) went much better than the second (below). Oliver did amazingly well the first time and then the second time he threw fits, ate dough (with raw eggs) and tossed flour everywhere. But the second batch did taste better...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I am beyond grateful for so many blessings in my life! I can't even think of the words, if there are words, to describe how full of gratitude my heart is this morning. I love my family so very, very much! What joy! My husband is so amazing, my children the most precious gifts I've ever been given.
Yesterday we moved apartments, just one block away--from a walkup to a ground floor. I'm due to have this new little baby boy in two weeks! My fabulous in-laws are my heros; they came to my rescue, they came "to save the day". All day Tuesday I sat on the couch, taped boxes and told them which things went into which boxes. All day Wednesday I sat on the couch in our new apartment and told them where to put things away. I was more energized after this move (being 9 months pregnant!) than I've ever felt moving! It was an amazing blessing. I woke up this morning to a new, completely settled (almost...where are my shoes?) apartment. It feels great!
There were quite a few hiccups in our move yesterday. Like the movers we had booked (and used on a previous move) called Tuesday night at 9:30pm to push our move time from 9am to 3pm, because they double booked. We found new movers by 10pm that night. The new movers were late, slow, and charged more money. But got the job done before 3pm when the cops completely blocked off our street for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day Parade. So, in hindsight it all worked out.
When we were about to unload in front of our new building I told the movers to move the barricades that the police had put up, so we could unload straight form the truck into our apartment. The guy in charge nervously said, in his thick Russian accent, "It's against the law to move barricades." I replied, "Everything is against the law in New York." He laughed, stated, "It's true," and moved the barricades. A few cops were looking on, but I think the power of the hugely pregnant woman reigned (or at least worked in my favor) several times during this move. It was lovely!
The photos are not uploading correctly, so I'll have to add them later. Hugs to all of my fabulous family and friends. I'm so blessed to have you in my life! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Halloween!
One of the many things I LOVE about New York City is Halloween. The city really opens up to the kids. Like today, on our way home from church at 2pm kids were already running from store to store trick-or-treating. The last few days were spent dressed up, hitting various festivities around the city and gathering candy. SO FUN!

Isabella's Party
Since we flew back to New York City only a few days before Isabella's 4th birthday I decided to put off the party for another week. Last Saturday we met with friends in Central Park to celebrate our sweet girl. The day was quite windy and a bit chilly, but everyone seemed to have a great time. Isabella loved playing with all her friends. The big birthday drama was when the wind blew out her candles and she thought one of the kids had. Thank you, Lauren, for playing photographer at the party!
| This is on her birthday, Oct 7. She makes wonderful pizzas! |
| Getting ready for the party. Yes, sprinkles were everywhere. But it was so fun! |
