Attitude of Gratitude

Today I am so grateful for a warm, heated home.  As we came home from church this afternoon the bitter winds bit us to the bone.  It was so luxurious to walk into our warm apartment.

Growing up our home was only heated by a wood burning stove in our family room.  Even though it was California (northern!) it was very chilly most or the winter and that stove took a while to warm up the living area.  As I walked into our apartment today I thought how nice it is to not have to gather and chop wood, build a fire and wait for our home to warm up.  I feel so rich and blessed!  (Dad, thanks for building such wonderful fires in that wood stove.  I still remember your "newspaper logs".)

I just checked the weather and it is 17 degrees outside.  With the windchill, it is 4 degrees.  Lovely!

Both abundance and lack [of abundance] exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend … when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present—love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us [happiness]—the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth.  ~Sarah Ban Breathnach
